"Peace will not come out of a clash of arms but out of justice lived and done by unarmed nations in the face of odds. Not to believe in the possibility of permanent peace is to disbelieve in the Godliness of human nature".-Mahatma Gandhi We must all renew our commitment to global solidarity. To sustain peace, we must build it every day, in every society, with every woman and man, by working together towards a better common future for all. In a world troubled with conflict, a day dedicated to peace reminds us of Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy of Ahimsa or non-violence. It is a United Nations' designated day, established in 1981. In 2001, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) voted to call for "non-violence and cease-fire" on world peace day. The UN encourages countries to observe the day by adhering to "24 hours of non-violence". The theme for International Day of Peace 2020 is "Shaping Peace Together." Today people should "celebrate the day by spreading compassion, kindness and hope in the face of the (COVID-19) pandemic." #appleglobalschool #beanapplet #internationaldayofpeace2020 #worldpeaceday2020 #shapingpeacetogether

"Poverty is not about being without money, but being without hope!" Our Applets are providing HOPE to a number of helpless people during these tough times and they have made us very proud! Kindly support Neil's initiative and make this world a better place. "NO ONE HAS EVER BECOME POOR BY GIVING"~ANNE FRANK Covid-19 has presented us with unprecedented challenges as a society as a whole. There are millions of Indians who are daily wagers and many who are out of jobs. With their limited savings, it is impossible for these people to sustain and have the benefit of basic necessities. While the government announced various schemes to help the poor and needy, it was not feasible to provide hands-on delivery of these due to the complexity in execution and the diversity of the targeted population. We started serving meals as one-off activity initially in the second week of April 2020, we used to serve around 50 meals on weekends but then we realised that there are more people who were in dire need of food. We requested our residential society members to help us out and almost all of them supported us with funds or food raw materials. Our organization which started as a small effort from a few friends and elders in a small vicinity has gradually managed to gain more support from volunteers, donors, and well-wishers. In the meantime, we also got inspired by our school friends (Arham and team Cov-aid Warriors) and Priyanka Ma'am and it helped us formalise our efforts. In a very short span of time, we have managed to gain popular support from several people who are now working under the banner of FEED THE POOR FOUNDATION in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and South Gujarat. We are in this together, and privileged. Join hands with us and fulfill your part of service as we provide meals, food, and sanitation kits to the needy in these tough times. We plan to continue this activity in the future as well (especially during weekends, key festivals, etc). For more details, please visit https://feedthepoor.foundation/ and spread the word. - Neil Desai (Gr.12 Commerce) https://feedthepoor.foundation/

On the occasion of 'World Wildlife Day', our Pre school Applets visited Sundarvan- a nature discovery center, 🐍🦚🦜🦢🌳🐾located In the midst of this busy, sprawling western Ahmedabad. As they walked gently around the bamboo groves and a banyan tree they spotted a tortoise blocking their way, heard a lovebird humming away and discovered a snake skin resting by the pond. This natural refuge is indeed a mini zoo committed to spreading awareness and sensitivity towards nature. It is most known for the variety of snakes like Russel's viper, Red Sand boa and the revered Indian cobra. Other than snakes, our Applets enjoyed watching a porcupine, a small aquarium and the bird section. Our Applets were amazed to see birds like pheasants, ducks and turkeys roaming freely and peacocks dancing away in this natural setting. Finally they returned back with happy heart and fond memories and a lot of information about birds, animals and snakes... #appleglobalschool #agseducation #beanapplet #academicsinahmedabad
